Invoicing

The tax QR code and the invoice PDF

What the Verifactu QR code contains, its size and position on the invoice, the VERI*FACTU legend, and where Encadena shows the QR and the PDF.

Last updated by the PluginLoom team

Every invoice issued with Verifactu software carries a QR code that lets the customer check it with the AEAT (RD 1619/2012 art. 6.5, added by RD 1007/2023; Orden HAC/1177/2024 arts. 20 and 21).

What does the QR code contain?#

A link to the AEAT check service with four parameters: the issuer NIF, the invoice number, the issue date (DD-MM-AAAA) and the total, with the values URL-encoded in UTF-8.

Source: AEAT QR specification v0.5.0 (opens in a new tab), sections 4 to 6, checked October 24, 2026. Encadena's tests reproduce the AEAT's encoding example exactly.

Where does it appear?#

  • The invoice PDF.
  • Order emails to the customer (as an image) and the attached PDF.
  • The customer's order page in My Account, with a download link.
  • The record screen in the admin.

Annulment records have no QR code, because they are not invoices.

Why a built-in PDF?#

The PDF is drawn by a small built-in writer with the standard Helvetica fonts, so the plugin does not ship a large HTML-to-PDF library, and the QR code is drawn module by module at an exact physical size. Spanish characters and the euro sign are supported.
