VERI*FACTU vs NO VERI*FACTU

The two ways Spanish law lets you run invoicing software, what each one requires, and how Encadena handles signatures, the event register and switching modes.

Last updated by the PluginLoom team

Spanish law gives invoicing software two ways to work. Encadena supports both.

What is the difference?#

Can I change mode?#

  • From NO VERIFACTU to VERIFACTU: any time.
  • From VERIFACTU back: once you send records as VERIFACTU in a calendar year, you stay until 31 December of that year (RD 1007/2023 art. 16.5; Orden art. 17.2). To leave, tick Renounce VERI*FACTU at the end of this year. Encadena then sends the end date (FechaFinVeriFactu) in each submission, as Orden art. 17.3 describes, and blocks the switch until the new year.

What does Encadena do in NO VERI*FACTU mode?#

  • Signs each record with your certificate (XAdES-EPES, RSA-SHA256, with the AGE signature policy the AEAT signature specification names).
  • Keeps a chained, hashed event register: start and end of the mode (events 01 and 02), chain checks and anomalies found (03 to 06), exports (08), and a summary at least every six hours (10), as Orden art. 9 requires.
  • Shows an alarm if no certificate is available. Invoicing never stops; records are kept unsigned until you upload one.

Which should I choose?#

Most shops will find VERIFACTU simpler: no signatures, no event register, and the customer can check the invoice through the QR code. Choose NO VERIFACTU only if you have a reason to keep records on your own systems and you have your certificate from day one. Ask your adviser if unsure.
