Plaid products explained for WordPress sites

Every current Plaid product in plain English: what it does, how Plaid bills it, its region, and the WordPress, WooCommerce or MemberPress use it fits.

Last updated by the PluginLoom team

Plaid sells a set of separate products, and you only pay for the ones you use. This page lists each current Plaid product, what it does, how Plaid bills it and where it fits on a WordPress site, based on Plaid's docs home (opens in a new tab) and billing docs (opens in a new tab).

Do some products need extra approval?#

Yes. Plaid says Transfer needs an approved Transfer Application before it goes live (Transfer docs (opens in a new tab)). Layer access starts with a request to Plaid's sales team (Layer docs (opens in a new tab)). Identity Verification needs a template built in the Plaid Dashboard, and Plaid says your company must be based in the US, Canada or the UK to integrate it (Identity Verification docs (opens in a new tab)).

How do I keep Plaid costs down?#

  1. Request only the products you use when Link opens.
  2. Use /item/remove when a user disconnects or leaves. Plaid says this is required to stop subscription billing for Transactions, Liabilities and Investments, which continue even if you make no API calls.
  3. Use the free cached balance in /accounts/get where real-time data is not needed. Plaid says cached balances update about once a day for Items with Transactions, and every 30 days or less often for Auth-only Items (Balance docs (opens in a new tab)).

Plaid does not publish prices. See the Plaid pricing guide.
