Shortcodes and blocks

Place a Plaid Link bank connection anywhere in WordPress with BankBridge's shortcode or block. Typical options, where to use them, and caching tips.

Last updated by the PluginLoom team

BankBridge lets you place a bank connection button on any WordPress page, post or template, so you are not limited to checkout or membership pages. This doc explains the general pattern. Your plugin's settings screen shows the exact shortcode and block names for your version.

This page describes the typical options. The names below are examples. Use the ones shown in your BankBridge settings, which always match your installed version.

When should I use a shortcode or block?#

Use one whenever you want a "Connect your bank" button outside WooCommerce checkout or MemberPress signup. Common examples:

  • A loan, rental or onboarding application page
  • A "verify your payout account" page for vendors or affiliates
  • A member area that shows the user's own balances or transactions
  • An identity verification step for new accounts

How do I add the block?#

  1. Edit the page in the block editor.
  2. Click the + inserter and search for BankBridge.
  3. Add the block and set its options in the sidebar.
  4. Publish and test in Sandbox.

How do I add the shortcode?#

Paste the shortcode into a Shortcode block, a classic editor page, or an Elementor Shortcode widget. A shortcode with options usually looks like this:

code
[bankbridge_connect products="auth,identity" button_text="Connect your bank"]

Which options are typical?#

OptionWhat it controls
Plaid productsWhich Plaid products the connection requests, for example Auth, Identity or Transactions
Button textThe label on the button
Logged in onlyWhether visitors must be signed in first
Success pageWhere the user goes after connecting

Only request the Plaid products you need. Plaid bills some products per connected account, so asking for more than you use can cost more (Plaid billing (opens in a new tab)).

Does caching affect it?#

Yes. Each Plaid link_token belongs to one session and expires after 4 hours (Plaid Link (opens in a new tab)). Exclude pages with a connect button from full page caching, or confirm that the token is fetched fresh when the button is clicked.
