Use BankBridge with Elementor

Add a Plaid Link bank connection button or form step to Elementor pages with BankBridge. Placement tips, Elementor Pro forms, caching and testing.

Last updated by the PluginLoom team

BankBridge is compatible with Elementor, so you can place a "Connect your bank" button or step inside the pages you already design in Elementor. When a visitor clicks it, Plaid Link opens on top of your page.

How do I add a bank connection to an Elementor page?#

The exact widget names depend on your BankBridge version. The common approach is:

  1. Edit the page in Elementor.
  2. Add the BankBridge element, or a Shortcode widget with the BankBridge shortcode (see Shortcodes and blocks).
  3. Set the button text and which Plaid products the connection should request.
  4. Publish, then test with Sandbox login user_good / pass_good.

Use the published page URL as your OAuth redirect URI, or set a dedicated return page. See Plaid Link setup.

Form based flows rely on Elementor Pro. Elementor's developer docs (opens in a new tab) say "Elementor Pro provides a set of tools to add your own custom actions" that run after a form is submitted. A form flow is useful when you want to collect a name and email first, then ask for a bank connection.

Where should I place the button?#

Put it where the user already expects to share bank details.

PageGood placement
Application or onboarding pageAfter the basic details, before the final submit
Pricing or signup pageNext to the "pay by bank" option
Member dashboardIn an account or billing section

Say plainly what the user is sharing and why, close to the button. Plaid's OAuth guide notes that some banks reject apps with an empty display profile, so fill in your Plaid application profile too.

Will caching or optimization plugins break it?#

They can. Link tokens are created fresh per session and expire after 4 hours, so a cached page must not serve someone else's token. Plaid also says the Link script must load from cdn.plaid.com and must not be bundled or self-hosted (Link web docs (opens in a new tab)). If Link fails only for logged out visitors, exclude the page from page caching and from JavaScript combining or delaying.

What should I test?#

  1. The button on desktop and mobile.
  2. Closing Link halfway, then trying again.
  3. An OAuth bank in Sandbox, to confirm the redirect returns to the right page.
  4. The page with caching on, in a private browser window.
