Getting started: install Encadena
Install Encadena on WooCommerce, run the setup wizard and issue your first test invoice with the offline simulator. What you need before you start.

Encadena installs like any WordPress plugin. You can try everything in the test environment with the offline simulator before you have an electronic certificate, because the simulator never contacts the AEAT.
What do I need?#

Verifactu applies to businesses taxed under the common Spanish system. It does not apply under the foral systems of the Basque Country or Navarra, or to taxpayers who keep their VAT books through SII (Real Decreto 1007/2023 arts. 1.3 and 3.3, BOE (opens in a new tab), checked October 24, 2026).
How do I install it?#
- Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and choose the Encadena zip.
- Click Install Now, then Activate. The setup wizard opens.
- Add your license key in Verifactu > Tools to get updates.
What does the wizard ask?#
It has six short steps: who Verifactu applies to, your business details, the mode (VERIFACTU or NO VERIFACTU), your certificate (you can skip it), invoice settings, and a summary. See The setup wizard. No invoice is issued until you finish it.
How do I make a first test invoice?#
- Create an order in euros and mark it paid (or Processing).
- Open the order: the Verifactu invoice box shows the invoice number, status and a PDF link.
- Open Verifactu > Billing records to see the record, its huella, the previous huella and the QR code.
- Refund part of the order to see a rectifying invoice.
Test invoices carry the prefix PRUEBA- and a "test document" note, so they never mix with real numbering.
