Features

What BankBridge does

Grouped by job: connect, payments, risk, identity, data, setup, license.

  • Connect

Plaid Link on your WordPress site

Launch Plaid Link, Plaid's own bank login window, from your pages so users can connect an account at their bank. Your site never sees their bank password.

  • Payments

Bank account details for ACH with Plaid Auth

Plaid Auth returns the checking or savings account and routing number a user chose to share, for ACH and other bank to bank payments through a payment processor.

  • Risk

    Real-time balance checks

Plaid Balance returns current and available balances, so you can check for funds before you debit an account.

  • Risk

Account ownership checks with Plaid Identity

Compare the name, email, phone and address on the bank account with what the user typed, using Plaid Identity and Identity Match.

  • Risk

ACH return risk scores with Plaid Signal

Plaid Signal Transaction Scores estimate how likely a proposed ACH debit is to be returned, with rules you set in the Plaid Dashboard.

  • Payments

    Bank payments with Plaid Transfer

Plaid Transfer is Plaid's US payment product for ACH, RTP, FedNow and wire, including recurring transfers and refunds. Plaid approves each business for Transfer.

  • Identity

    Identity Verification and Monitor

Plaid Identity Verification checks ID documents, selfies and data sources for KYC. Plaid Monitor adds sanctions, PEP and watchlist screening.

  • Data

    Financial data products

Plaid Transactions, Investments, Liabilities, Assets, Income and Statements give permissioned data for budgeting, lending and underwriting use cases.

  • Identity

Phone number onboarding with Plaid Layer

Plaid Layer lets eligible US users onboard with just a phone number. Plaid gives Layer access through its sales team.

  • Setup

    Sandbox first, then Production

Build and test with Plaid's free Sandbox and test logins, then switch to Production keys once Plaid approves your account.

  • Setup

    Webhooks for status changes

Plaid sends webhooks when an Item needs attention or a transfer changes status. Your site can react instead of polling.

  • License

A year of updates and support

Every license includes plugin updates and support for one year from purchase.

Use cases

How sites use it, by integration

BankBridge is a WordPress plugin for Plaid. It connects WordPress, WooCommerce, Elementor, MemberPress and more to Plaid, so your customers and members can link a bank account, prove it is theirs and pay from it, without you writing a custom Plaid integration.

You bring your own Plaid account. Plaid bills its fees to you directly. BankBridge is the bridge between that account and your WordPress site.

What does BankBridge do?#

BankBridge puts Plaid inside your WordPress site. Plaid is the service that lets people connect a bank account to an app by logging in to their bank inside a secure Plaid window called Link (opens in a new tab). BankBridge is built to bring Plaid's features to the plugins your site already runs:

You runWhat Plaid makes possiblePlaid products involved
WooCommercePay by bank (ACH) at checkout, verify accounts before high value ordersLink, Auth, Balance, Signal, Transfer
MemberPressBank payments for memberships, recurring billing by bankLink, Auth, Transfer recurring transfers
ElementorA "Connect your bank" button or form step inside your layoutsLink
WordPressIdentity checks, account ownership checks, member financial dashboardsIdentity, Identity Verification, Monitor, Transactions

Who is it for?#

BankBridge is for two kinds of people.

Business owners who want lower cost bank payments, fewer failed debits, or a trusted way to check who a customer is. Bank payments can cost less than cards on large orders: Stripe, for example, lists ACH Direct Debit at 0.8% capped at $5.00 (as listed on October 23, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Plaid lets the customer connect their account by logging in to their bank instead of typing routing numbers.

Developers and agencies who would otherwise spend days or weeks building Plaid Link, token exchange, webhook handling and WooCommerce or MemberPress glue code by hand, then maintaining it every time Plaid or WordPress changes.

Which Plaid products does it work with?#

BankBridge is built to work with Plaid's products, as described by Plaid in its docs (opens in a new tab). Here is what each one does, in plain English.

Plaid productWhat it doesTypical WordPress use
Link (opens in a new tab)The bank login window users seeStart any bank connection
Auth (opens in a new tab)Returns account and routing numbersACH payments, payouts
Balance (opens in a new tab)Real-time current and available balanceCheck funds before a debit
Identity (opens in a new tab)Account owner name, email, phone, addressConfirm the account belongs to the buyer
Signal (opens in a new tab)Scores the risk that an ACH debit is returnedApprove or hold a bank payment
Transfer (opens in a new tab)Moves money over ACH, RTP, FedNow and wire (US only)Checkout payments, recurring memberships, refunds
Identity Verification (opens in a new tab)ID document, selfie and data checksKYC at sign up
MonitorSanctions, PEP and watchlist screeningAML checks with Identity Verification
Transactions (opens in a new tab)Up to 24 months of transaction historyBudgeting or advisory dashboards
Investments, LiabilitiesHoldings and debtsFinancial planning tools
Assets, Income, StatementsUnderwriting data and bank PDFsLending and rental applications
Layer (opens in a new tab)Onboarding with just a phone number (US)Faster sign up

Some Plaid products need extra approval from Plaid. For example, Plaid says you must complete the Transfer Application and be approved before Transfer goes live, and Layer starts with a request to Plaid's sales team. BankBridge does not change those rules.

How does setup work?#

Setup follows Plaid's standard flow. Plaid's docs describe these steps, and the BankBridge docs walk you through each one.

  1. Install BankBridge on your WordPress site and activate your license key.
  2. Create a Plaid account at dashboard.plaid.com (opens in a new tab) and copy your client_id and Sandbox secret from the Keys page (opens in a new tab).
  3. Test in Sandbox. It is free. Log in to any test bank with user_good and pass_good.
  4. Add your redirect URI in the Plaid Dashboard so OAuth banks can send users back to your site. Plaid requires HTTPS for Production redirect URIs.
  5. Set your webhook URL so Plaid can tell your site when something changes.
  6. Request Production access in the Plaid Dashboard, complete Plaid's profile and security steps, then swap in your Production secret.

Why not build it yourself?#

You can. Plaid's API is well documented. But a working WordPress integration is more than one API call.

Why not a generic payment plugin?#

A generic payment plugin connects one payment processor to one platform. That is fine if you only need card payments. It does not give you Plaid's account verification, balance checks, ownership checks, risk scores or financial data, and it usually covers WooCommerce or MemberPress, not both. BankBridge is built around Plaid, so the same bank connection can serve checkout, memberships and member tools.

If you already use a processor such as Stripe or Dwolla, Plaid can still help. Plaid's processor partner (opens in a new tab) model lets Plaid verify the account and hand a token to your processor, so you do not store raw account numbers yourself.

Is it secure?#

Bank logins happen inside Plaid Link, which Plaid hosts and loads from cdn.plaid.com. Your site never sees the user's bank password. Plaid says it protects data with AES-256 encryption and TLS (source (opens in a new tab)). What your site does receive are tokens: an access_token that Plaid says must be stored securely and that can be revoked with /item/remove.

Read Data handling and security for what is stored, where, and how to remove it.

What do I get with a license?#

  • The BankBridge plugin for the number of sites on your plan
  • Plugin updates for one year
  • Support for one year
  • Secure checkout by Stripe
  • A 14-day refund policy

Plaid fees are separate and billed by Plaid. Plaid's pricing page (opens in a new tab) lists Pay as You Go, Growth and Custom plans but no prices, so ask Plaid for a quote. Plaid's Sandbox is always free.

FAQ

BankBridge questions, answered

What is BankBridge?

BankBridge is a WordPress plugin that connects your site to Plaid. It is built to bring Plaid features to WordPress, WooCommerce, Elementor, MemberPress and more, so users can link, verify and pay from a bank account.

Do I need my own Plaid account?

Yes. You create a Plaid account at dashboard.plaid.com and paste your client_id and secret into BankBridge. Plaid approves your business for Production and bills you directly.

Is Plaid included in the price?

No. Your BankBridge license covers the plugin, updates and support for one year. Plaid charges its own fees under your Plaid plan. Plaid does not publish prices on its pricing page, so ask Plaid for a quote.

Can I test before I go live?

Yes. Plaid's Sandbox is free and uses test logins such as user_good and pass_good. New US and Canadian Plaid teams created on or after April 15, 2026 can also use a Trial plan with up to 10 live Production Items.

Can customers pay by ACH in WooCommerce?

Plaid supports ACH in two ways: Plaid Transfer, where Plaid moves the money after it approves your business, or Plaid Auth with a payment processor such as Stripe or Dwolla. See the WooCommerce doc for setup.

Does it work with MemberPress recurring memberships?

BankBridge is compatible with MemberPress. Plaid Transfer supports recurring ACH transfers on a weekly or monthly schedule. See the MemberPress doc for how memberships and bank payments fit together.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

BankBridge works with Elementor. Elementor's developer docs describe custom form actions as an Elementor Pro feature, so form based flows may need Pro. See the Elementor doc.

Does BankBridge store bank passwords?

No. Users log in to their bank inside Plaid Link, which Plaid hosts. Your site receives tokens from Plaid, not bank credentials. See Data handling and security for what is stored.

Is this an official Plaid plugin?

No. Plaid is a trademark of Plaid Inc. BankBridge is an independent plugin and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Plaid.

Which countries does it support?

That depends on the Plaid product. Plaid Transfer, Signal and Layer are US only. Plaid Auth covers the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. Check each product's Plaid docs for current coverage.

What is the refund policy?

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy for details.

What happens after the first year?

The plugin keeps working on your site. Renew your license to keep getting updates and support.

Can I use it on more than one site?

Yes. Choose a plan with the number of sites you need. You can move a license to a new site from your account.
